I stand toward equity, transparency, and accountability.
Education provides an invisible interconnection thread that begins with students, parents, teachers, classified staff, and administrators. Their future begins the first day they step foot into a classroom for the first time. Let's educate them with equity.
During these uncertain times, the most crucial goal is to maintain focus on students' education, well-being, and emotional stability. Currently, our children are getting up every morning and facing adversity straight on. While we are tired and overworked, look at what the pandemic is teaching our children to keep pushing forward, keep trying, keep learning, and continuing to dream big. But not all are the same. We also have students who struggle via distance learning from having one or six teachers via a monitor. Others struggle with language barriers, home displacement, technological difficulties, and some need additional help and support.
We are accountable for providing all students, teachers, and staff with the necessary resources to equally and equitably achieve student success. It is this partnership that creates great lifelong learners. This worldwide pandemic has affected us like no other, and we must work together to achieve our common goals.
Advocating for equal education for all students in the community and celebrating our diverse population shows them that we are here to serve their educational needs first. Together we can help all students attain their true potential by creating a community of learners. Schools can start our common educational thread by bridging the gap towards higher education for all students and providing programs that will increase career pathways into higher education, including technical skills-based programs.
For those who struggle academically, we should be their heroes. We should stop and help students who need it. Yes, I am well aware that we are overworked and overwhelmed, but the same way we help OUR children, what about our neighbors' child(ren)? I see little libraries on street corners and think about how great and generous our community is, and then I see that some students are not reading at grade level. Those not reading at grade level makes me feel like we are failing them. They are our future.
We should consider dedicating time to students, teachers, aides, staff, and parents who are willing to help. Let's never forget that we too were once young and felt lost, but let's also remember that one teacher, parent, custodian, mom's friend, or afterschool aide that lent that helping hand by tutoring us. Regardless of the circumstances we are in, it is why we have resources like zoom-to help one another.
Through transparency, equity, and accountability, we can instill the love of learning, and perhaps maybe one or more of you will be that one person who changes a student's life. You can be their hero.
Let's begin by listening, not just hearing, seeing, not just looking, and letting us continue inspiring our students by leading by example.

Durante estos tiempos de incertidumbre, el objetivo más importante es mantener el enfoque en la educación, el bienestar y la estabilidad emocional de los estudiantes. Actualmente, nuestros hijos se levantan cada mañana y enfrentan la adversidad de frente. Mientras estamos cansados ​​y con exceso de trabajo, mire lo que la pandemia les está enseñando a nuestros hijos para seguir adelante, seguir intentando, seguir aprendiendo y seguir soñando en grande. Pero no todos son iguales. También tenemos estudiantes que luchan a través del aprendizaje a distancia al tener uno o seis maestros a través de un monitor. Otros luchan con las barreras del idioma, el desplazamiento del hogar, las dificultades tecnológicas y algunos necesitan ayuda y apoyo adicionales.
Somos responsables de proporcionar a todos los estudiantes, maestros y personal los recursos necesarios para lograr el éxito estudiantil de manera equitativa. Es esta asociación la que crea grandes aprendices de por vida. Esta pandemia mundial nos ha afectado como ninguna otra y debemos trabajar juntos para lograr nuestros objetivos comunes.

Abogar por la educación equitativa para todos los estudiantes de la comunidad y celebrar nuestra población diversa les muestra que estamos aquí para atender sus necesidades academicas primero. Juntos podemos ayudar a todos los estudiantes a alcanzar su verdadero potencial creando una comunidad de estudiantes. Las escuelas pueden comenzar nuestro hilo educativo común al cerrar la brecha hacia la educación superior para todos los estudiantes y proporcionar programas que aumentarán las trayectorias profesionales hacia la educación superior, incluidos los programas basados ​​en habilidades técnicas.
Para aquellos que luchan académicamente, deberíamos ser sus héroes. Debemos detenernos y ayudar a los estudiantes que lo necesiten. Sí, soy muy consciente de que estamos sobrecargados de trabajo y abrumados, pero de la misma manera que ayudamos a NUESTROS hijos, ¿qué pasa con los hijos de nuestros vecinos? Veo pequeñas bibliotecas en las esquinas y pienso en lo grandiosa y generosa que es nuestra comunidad, y luego veo que algunos estudiantes no están leyendo al nivel de su grado. Aquellos que no leen a nivel de grado me hacen sentir que les estamos reprobando. Ellos son nuestro futuro.
Deberíamos considerar dedicar tiempo a los estudiantes, maestros, ayudantes, personal y padres que estén dispuestos a ayudar. Nunca olvidemos que nosotros también fuimos jóvenes y nos sentimos perdidos, pero también recordemos a ese maestro, padre, tutor, amigo de mamá o ayudante después de la escuela que nos ayudó con la tutoría. Independientemente de las circunstancias en las que nos encontremos, es por eso que tenemos recursos como "zoom" para ayudarnos unos a otros.
A través de la transparencia, la equidad y la responsabilidad, podemos inculcar el amor por el aprendizaje, y tal vez uno o más de ustedes sea la persona que cambie la vida de un estudiante. Puedes ser su héroe.
